3D Box Shot Pro: Windows 7 Tune Up

  • 3D Box Shot Pro Windows 7 Tune Up.

  • Unless you play a lot of 3D Games on your PC, then the chances are that you may not have given your graphics driver a lot of thought. If you can't actually recall installing a specific graphics driver on your machine then you are most likely using the default Microsoft display drivers. The default Microsoft drivers will just about get Windows 7 running. Windows 7 is the first version of Windows that relies heavily on hardware acceleration for the Windows interface. As a result, if you are using the default Microsoft display driver, then you will probably find that Windows 7 will run significantly faster and look at lot better if you install the correct up to date display driver.

  • If 3D Box Shot Pro doesn't run on your system, then you may simply need to update your graphics display driver.
  • This is where the 3D Box Shot Pro Demo can really help out. It comes with a nifty little utility called Jellypie GPU Info. You can find this on the Start Menu entry for the 3D Box Shot Pro Demo. It is called Check your Graphics Chip. When you run it you will set something like this:

  • Box Shot Screenshot: Jellypie GPU Info
  • The Renderer section about tells you the type of graphics card you have installed. You can easily Google this information to find the latest driver for you graphics chip. Install this you'll most likely see a significant boost in the visuals on Windows 7. You will also find that (unless you have a very old graphics card) 3D Box Shot Pro will now run. This is of course true on other versions of Windows as well. It's just that Windows 7 is the first version of Windows to use a hardware accelerated GUI. Having said this, many applications running to Windows XP also benefit from hardware acceleration, so it's always worth making the effort to keep your graphics drivers up to date.
